Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Women's Team Gears Up for Crucial ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier Matches Against Ireland and UAE

As our Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Women’s team approaches the conclusion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, they have been recuperating and refining their skills in preparation for the challenges ahead. Their upcoming matches against Ireland, ranked 10th in ICC Women’s T20 Internationals, and the UAE, positioned 16th globally, promise to be significant hurdles as they aim to secure a spot in the Semi-Finals of the tournament.

Vanuatu is currently in 5th place on the Group B standings after their first two matches, where Vanuatu stunned the world with a comprehensive win over Zimbabwe ranked 12th globally, followed by a loss to the Netherlands ranked 14th on Saturday.

The team wisely took a short break utilising their bye before getting back to training, making sure they are fully ready for the upcoming games and the challenges that lay ahead.

Skipper Selina Solman offered her perspective on the team’s performance following their match against the Netherlands, stating:

“Despite our setback against the Netherlands I’m still proud of what we have been able to achieve here so far and after resting for a rest day, we are looking forward to getting back into the competition refreshed.

“Truthfully, we were disappointed with our performance as a team against the Dutch side, as I know we are a very good team and we could’ve done better, but it’s about learning from this and applying those lessons in our next games.

“The rest day provided a much-needed break for the team to unwind and enjoy some time away from cricket and explore the UAE. Now, we're back into training and preparation for our upcoming match against Ireland.”

The team is scheduled to play Ireland on Thursday at 2:30 AM VUT, followed by a match against the UAE on Friday at 10 PM VUT. All matches will be streamed LIVE and FREE on icc.tv.
