Scorecard

In a spirited display, Loukatai showcased resilience and local pride to secure a 62-run victory over Tafea Police in the Tanna Men’s T20 Championship.

Loukatai’s innings was a true team effort, with Brandon Bangalulu leading the charge with a quickfire 25 from 24 balls. Loukatai found an unexpected ally in extras, with 62 runs gifted by Tafea Police’s bowlers, helping the team reach a competitive 112. Despite a few early hiccups, Loukatai managed to put a solid score on the board with contributions from every player, even if some came from a bit of luck.

When it came time to bowl, Bangalulu took matters into his own hands. His remarkable spell of 6 for 16 had Tafea Police on the back foot from the get-go, dismantling the top order and leaving the chasing team struggling to regain their footing. Narry Peter added pressure with 2 for 7, closing out the game as Tafea Police were all out for 50. While the match ended comfortably in Loukatai’s favor, the atmosphere and sportsmanship on display highlighted the close-knit spirit of Tanna cricket.

Lenakel Seaside, looking to put on a solid score, was met with fierce bowling from Rodney Nilua. In a once-in-a-lifetime spell, Nilua took 8 wickets for 23 runs, tearing through the lineup with skill and precision. Though Lenakel managed only 36 runs, they too were assisted by a generous contribution of 28 extras from the Tennis Futuna bowlers, adding a bit of charm to the competition.

In their chase, Tennis Futuna also faced some challenges, with Lenakel’s bowlers eager to defend their total. Nilua, showing his all-around talent, remained steady and guided his team to victory with a composed 6 not out, supported by extras that took some of the pressure off.
