New Signings Add Strength to Local Cricket Clubs

The Vanuatu Cricket Association is thrilled to announce the exciting news that four skilled men's players - national captain Joshua Rasu, Darren Wotu, Williamsing Nalisa, and Clement Tommy - have joined leading local clubs in Australia, each bringing new energy, talent and experience their Melbourne competitions.

Rasu & Wotu have re-signed with Craigieburn Cricket Club, reinforcing the club’s connection with the VCA, with High Perforamance Manager & National Head Coach Chris Laffan holding the reins there before moving to Vanuatu in 2023. Performance Spotlight: In a thrilling finish last weekend at Etzel Street Reserve, Airport West St Christopher’s edged out Craigieburn by 4 runs (192 vs 188).

Joshua Rasu anchored the innings with 25 runs off 39 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes (Strike Rate: 64.10). With the ball, he bowled 8 overs for 29 runs (economy: 3.62), showing tidy control even if wickets eluded him.


Darren Wotu delivered a powerful finish down the order, scoring 14 off 12 balls* with one four (Strike Rate: 116.66). He also supported the bowling attack with 8 overs for 41 runs (1 maiden, economy: 5.12) and grabbed a catch in the field.

Williamsing Nalisa has joined Doutta Stars Cricket Club, where his bowling prowess and competitive spirit will strengthen its lineup for the upcoming season.

Nalisa cut a resilient figure even as his side posted a modest total of 142 in 39.1 overs, scoring 14 runs off 19 balls.

Clement Tommy becomes part of Endeavour Hills Cricket Club, adding depth to their squad and contributing to its ambitions across junior and senior levels. He scored 11 (34) in the team's 29 run loss to Altona CC.

The cricketing community is encouraged to support Josh, Darren, Clement, Williamsing, and their clubs as they embark on what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
