The Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) is delighted to announce that star all-rounder Rachel Andrew has been chosen as one of the inaugural participants in Cricket Australia’s Project Inspire, a visionary program designed to empower women in cricket leadership roles at all levels of the game.

“Whilst engaging in her overseas Australian cricket season at Essendon Maribyrnong Park Ladies Cricket Club in the Victorian Premier Cricket Competition, Rachel has been provided an amazing opportunity, through the support of the International Cricket Council’s East-Asia Pacific office, to be involved,” said VCA High Performance Manager, Chris Laffan.

“This fantastic program, facilitated by former Australian Women’s captain Belinda Clark, provides Rachel with the ability to grow and develop her leadership in women’s sport and the community. This opportunity will further strengthen her ability to make a meaningful impact both on and off the field,” Laffan concluded.

Project Inspire is part of Cricket Australia’s broader commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity in cricket. The program offers training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to equip participants with the tools and confidence needed to lead within the cricketing community.

“I’m honoured to be awarded this opportunity from Cricket Australia as a representative of East-Asia Pacific – especially Vanuatu – to participate in the program! It’s another pathway for me to lead and learn from a different environment. I am looking forward to participating, meeting new people, creating connections through some super women leaders, and for that I am grateful,” said Andrew.

“Rachel’s selection for Cricket Australia's Project Inspire is a proud moment for the ICC and highlights the collaborative opportunities through cricket across the East Asia-Pacific region,” said Toby Cohen of the ICC. “The ICC has shown through the 100% Cricket Future Leaders Programme that we are committed to supporting initiatives that empower women in cricket. Rachel’s inclusion in this program is another shining example of how we can support opportunities for women to excel in leadership roles and we’re confident she will inspire many more female leaders across the region.”

In 40 T20 Internationals for her nation, 26-year-old Rachel Andrew has taken 42 wickets and scored 800 runs, cementing her status as one of Vanuatu’s finest cricketing talents.
