Port Vila – This Sunday, in a historic moment for the region, the dynamic duo will join the Stanthorpe Cricket Association Representative Side for the upcoming Mitchell Shield clash against the Warwick Cricket Team, and making headlines is the selection of Selina Solman, the only female player in the squad.

Selina Solman will become the first female cricketer to represent Stanthorpe at the Men’s representative level in the upcoming Mitchell Shield clash against Warwick on Sunday. She leads the Men’s competition wicket tally with 8, with strong performances in all 3 of her outings to date (3/13, 2/9, and 3/27).
Rival Samson sits 7th in the competition for runs scored with 103 at an impressive average of 52. A commanding 74 from 59 balls, including 11 boundaries for Valley’s earlier this season, has seen him carry over his form with the Splashe Mele Bulls, during his stint in the Haus Blo Wok T20 club championship in Port Vila.

The match against Warwick this Sunday marks a major milestone: not only for Stanthorpe cricket, but for the broader movement of women in the game. Solman, who plays her club cricket for Souths Cricket Club and is a valued member of the Vanuatu Women’s National Squad, has broken new ground with her inclusion in what has traditionally been a men’s squad.
Her participation sends a powerful message about opportunity, performance and the changing face of cricket in the region. With her current form, intimate knowledge of the game and proven skill set, she is very much up to the task.
