Updated: Jul 16

Port Vila – July 11, 2025 – Vanuatu Internationals Cricket Stars Rachel Andrew and Vicky Mansale delivered standout performances for South District Women in their Twenty20 match under lights at Darwin’s Nightcliff Oval, despite their team falling short in an 8-wicket loss to Tracy Village Women.

Rachel Andrew, renowned as Vanuatu’s leading T20I run scorer with over 900 runs, once again proved her class on Australian soil. She anchored South District’s innings with an unbeaten 67 off 66 balls, striking nine well-timed boundaries and maintaining the team’s momentum against disciplined bowling.

Vicky Mansale contributed 15 valuable runs in the middle order, showing her composure and technical skill with the bat. Earlier, she had opened the bowling for South Districts, returning an excellent spell of 4 overs for just 13 runs, including a crucial wicket, highlighting her continued evolution as a genuine all-rounder.

South District Women posted a respectable 118/4 in their 20 overs, led by Andrew’s dominant batting and supported by cameos, including Mansale’s. Joanna Pickett also impressed with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for 20 runs.

However, Tracy Village chased down the total with confidence, reaching 119/2 in 16.3 overs. Despite the early breakthroughs, the opposition’s middle and lower-order partnerships proved decisive, with Meghan McCartney finishing unbeaten on 50 off 44 balls to seal the result.

While the South District didn’t walk away with the win, the efforts of Andrew and Mansale were clear highlights. Their performances reinforce Vanuatu's growing reputation in women’s cricket, with both players continuing to make an impact in Australia’s competitive domestic scene.

Their success on this platform not only supports their personal development but also raises the profile of Vanuatu cricket, inspiring a new generation of Pacific cricketers and strengthening international pathways for women from the islands.
