The upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, taking place from 9 to 17 September 2025 at Albert Park in Suva, Fiji, will mark another thrilling chapter for Vanuatu’s women’s cricket team as they defend their regional title won in 2023, this time with a new captain.

After a remarkable tenure as captain, Selina Solman is stepping down from her leadership role. For years, led by the indomitable Solman, who celebrated her 30th birthday just over a month ago, the team has defied expectations and elevated women’s cricket to new heights. Solman gave Vanuatu its first WT20I five-wicket haul (5/9) and paved a courageous path.
Rachel Andrew, now taking the helm, is no stranger to excellence—she scored Vanuatu’s first WT20I century (105*) and was crowned Player of the Tournament at the 2023 EAP Qualifier. She is also the country's highest run scorer and third-highest wicket-taker in T20Is. The winner of this tournament in Fiji advances to the Global Qualifier, placing Vanuatu one step closer to the T20 World Cup stage.
At the 2023 EAP Qualifier, hosted in Port Vila, Vanuatu delivered an unbeaten campaign. Rachel Andrew was named Batter of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament, while Vanessa Vira (just 16 years old at the time) emerged as Bowler of the Tournament, amassing 11 wickets.
