Splashe Mele Bulls Crowned Champions in Port Vila T20 Finals

It was a day of double celebration for the Splashe Mele Bulls as both their women’s and men’s teams were crowned champions in the Port Vila T20 Grand Finals on August 9. Each team received a cash prize of 100,000 vatu and had their name etched on the perennial trophies as 2025 premiers.

In the Pacific Private Bank Port Vila Women’s T20 Championship Final, the Splashe Mele Bulls Women delivered a stunning performance to defeat Tafea Cricket Club by 118 runs. Batting first, star batter Valenta Langiatu smashed an unbeaten 127 runs off 69 balls, supported by Alvina Chilia’s quickfire 51 not out, guiding the Bulls to an imposing total of 221/1 in 20 overs.

Tafea fought back through captain Nasimana Navaika’s 46, but the Mele Bulls’ bowling attack proved too strong, bowling them out for 103 runs in 18.4 overs. Milanna Mansale (3 wickets), Langiatu (2), and Elizabeth Samson (2) sealed the win and the championship title.

Later in the day, the Haos Blo Wok Port Vila Men’s T20 Championship Final saw the Splashe Mele Bulls Men overpower the North Efate Bushpigs. The Bulls set a total of 192/9, led by captain Andrew Mansale’s 46 from 19 balls and quick runs from Malon Poilapa (39), Jelany Chilia (28), and Rival Samson (23).

The Bushpigs faltered in reply, bowled out for 99 in 16.4 overs despite Luke Chapman’s 37. The Bulls’ bowling attack was ruthless, with play of the final Patrick Matautaava taking 5/16 and Marcel Taea 3 wickets, sealing a 93-run victory.

With both teams lifting their trophies, Mele have re-stamped their dominance on Vanuatu cricket, only weeks after Tafea took to the men's PCS Independence Cup.

The VCA would like to officially thank Pacific Private Bank and Haos Blo Wok for their support of the 2025 Port Vila T20 Competitions.
